Role Introduction

The Trust is seeking to appoint reliable and trustworthy people to drive the school
minibuses to transport pupils to all schools within the Trust. Living locally would be an
advantage.

Reports to: Transport Manager
Hours: 20-25 hours per week, over a split shift morning and afternoon.
Salary: £15.19 per hour, paid monthly as part of an annual year-round salary.

Main Duties

  • To assist in driving one of the school routes
  • To assist with school trips and PE fixtures (when required)
  • Covering for drivers’ holiday and sickness (when required
  • Maintaining school vehicles, including fuel/oil and fluid and cleanliness
  • Available for occasional school outings during the day/evening
  • Available for occasional collection and drop off external visitors to/from the school
  • Available for occasional cover for evening routes and trips
  • Responsible for safety of pupils whilst on the bus

All offers of employment are subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Application Process

All applicants are required to complete an application form containing questions about their academic and employment history and their suitability for the role. Short listed applicants will be invited to attend a formal interview with a panel at which their relevant skills and experience will be discussed.  Interview panels will include at least one person trained in Safer Recruitment.

If it is decided to make an appointment following the formal interview, any such offer will be conditional on the following:

  • the receipt of two satisfactory references (one of which must be from the applicant’s most recent employer).  Please note that references will be taken up on short listed candidates prior to interview.
  • the receipt of a satisfactory enhanced disclosure from the DBS
  • the agreement of a mutually acceptable start date and the signing of a contract
